Have you ever been talking to someone, or listening to a radio show or watching a TV program and someone says something that just hits home, makes so much sense you wonder why you had never heard of it before or even thought of it yourself? It happens, in the blink of an eye one sentence or phrase and boom you know exactly what you are suppose to do or be doing or where you should be in life and how to get there. It’s amazing how it usually happens right when you need it most. Sometimes reminding yourself of these words is all you need to give yourself a boost.
The words you’ll use to boost your self-confidence aren’t the words spoken to you by others. These are words that you will write and speak to yourself. They’re called affirmations and can be some of the most effective means in raising the self-confidence of someone. Affirmations are easy to create and even simpler to put to use.
To begin with, target the areas of yourself and your life that you’re not quite happy with or you feel needs some improving. For instance, if you’re not pleased with something about your appearance, focus on something that you ARE happy with. Maybe you feel that you need to lose a bit of weight but you have a very pretty or handsome face. Focus on that beautiful smile. Then, every morning when you get up and before you go to bed every night, look at yourself in the mirror and say something along the lines of “I have a very beautiful smile and it is this smile that people will see when they look at me. My beautiful smile will draw the people I want into my life.” Of course, you’ll want to make it more personal, but you get the idea.
These affirmations are necessary in helping you to remember that there ARE some very attractive qualities about you and that those are the ones that you need to focus on bringing out to the forefront. When you’re positive about something and can use that positivity, you’ll find that people will WANT to be around you because you produce such great energy. In other words, draw attention away from the fact that you may be packing a few extra pounds, for example, by showing off that great smile and your warm personality. People flock to that sort of thing.
Haven’t you ever noticed those great looking guys that are partnered with women that are less than a 5 on The Scale? Those women may not be physically beautiful but they’ve found a way to bring their inner beauty to the outside. You can do that as well. All you have to do is a little mind work. Write down affirmations that apply to what you’re trying to accomplish. These can be recited as often as you wish or feel that you need them. The more positive energy that you put out the more that will come back to you. Soon, you’ll only be aware of that gorgeous smile and that extra weight will be a secondary concern that you can take care of when you have a chance. This can work the same way with whatever you want to change about yourself.
5 Steps To Building Confidence

You know it, we all know it, the more confident a person is the better they do in life, the farther they get and the more popular they are. So how do we become one of these chosen few? How do we, the normal mainstream people get to where they are and to be able to become the best people we can be in life, do what we were put on this earth to do? These 5 steps are going to help you get to where you want to be, it’s work but worth it in the end!
Emphasize your strengths and downplay your weaknesses: Self-confidence begins inside you so you must focus on everything that makes you a great person. Leave the past completely in the past and focus on the future. Make a list of 10 things you find positive about yourself. Then give yourself the credit you deserve for these traits.
Always remember past successes: Now, write down all of the successes that you’ve enjoyed in life. Remember how each one made you feel. These will amp up your confidence so that you can look to future successes waiting for you.
Conquer your shyness and take a gamble: You can choose to let your life pass you by or you could choose to get out and live. Everyone needs challenges in life. These present a way to feel good about yourself each time you beat a challenge. When you take a gamble on something, you understand that you can be successful in anything you try. Even when you feel you’ve failed, you’ll come away with a lesson, and that makes you a winner.
Build self-control: Refuse to listen to any little voice telling you that you’re going to fall on your face. That little voice is wrong and you need the self-control to put it where it deserves to be. No one’s perfect and you don’t need to be, either. Even if you make a mistake, as long as you’ve learned something from it, you still experienced a kind of success. Mistakes are for learning. So as long as you take away some knowledge from your mistakes, you’ll start gaining more self-confidence.
Visualize your successes: You can attain success in things much easier when you’re able to visualize it beforehand. See yourself in the situation you’re going to be facing. Watch as you make the right decisions, take the best actions and bring about the successful ending that you desire. Even those highly confident people that you run into from time to time use this type of visualization to bring the things they want into their lives. When you can SEE yourself bringing about what you want most in your life, you can make it happen. The more successes that you bring to yourself the more your confidence will build.
Take some time to practice these tips daily and you’ll begin noticing the level of your self-confidence increasing a bit more each time. Once you’ve attained this much needed confidence, you’ll see the change in the way others view you. It will become quite obvious that they see you as a self-confident person no matter which room you walk into.

One of the biggest problems people with low self confidence have is facing new and unfamiliar situations, which is why many times they get stuck in a rut, in a comfortable and familiar surroundings, whether it is where they are living or where they are working, the thought of going forward is scary. The thing these types of people need to know is that they HAVE to make that first step in order to build their confidence and get to where they want to be in life. Here are some ideas to help you make that first step to total self confidence:
Get to know yourself: If you’re going to learn how to effectively deal with people, you must be aware of where your strengths and weaknesses are, socially speaking. When you know what your positive traits are you’re in a good position to use them when connecting with others. This lets you know what you can offer to someone else besides just the pleasure of your company. Discover your strengths and how to best use them.
Step outside of your comfort zone: It’s natural for people to be more comfortable staying where they’re most familiar. However, if you don’t push your own boundaries a bit, you’ll become stagnant. You must get out and try some new things and meet some new people. Develop new skills and join new groups for different activities. When you learn new things and discover that you can do them well, your confidence will benefit from a definite boost. You’ll also have a new forum where you can express yourself.
Follow through with your plans: Go through your Things to Do List and figure out which listings you can complete and cross off the fastest. Just starting to finish things that you’ve wanted to do will immediately help you think more highly of yourself. Don’t depend on others to help you and stop letting yourself get caught in the shadows of others. As you complete things on your own, your reputation improves and your self-confidence builds.
Learn to accept and appreciate the person that you are: Explore your own little idiosyncrasies and figure out how to handle them. It’s also helpful if you can look for ways that you can use your individuality. You may be very surprised at the way others react to your unique traits. For instance, something you may have deemed an irritation may actually be endearing to other people, and there’s certainly nothing wrong with that. When you can become confident with the person you are and the skills you have, you’ll be well on your way to having the self-esteem that you always wanted. If you’ve got some traits and habits that you can’t change, then you need to use them to your advantage as long as you’re not encroaching on the territory of others.
The thing you need to remember above everything else is to love yourself. If you can do that, you can accept everything about yourself, which will go a long way to building your self-confidence.

Being Self Confident isn’t as easy as most may think it is, when you look around at most of the people today they are struggling with just trying to survive, find a job, make the rent or house payments and there are very few uplifting stories being told on the news; it’s all about how people are struggling to survive. So how do YOU get your confidence back, what if you never had it?
The first thing you can do is take some time for yourself. You are probably working day and night just to pay the bills and keep food on your table. With all of this work that you are doing comes a large amount of stress. Stress is one of those things that kills confidence in a very short amount of time. Taking some time for yourself can help relieve that stress and can actually build up some of your confidence so that you can do something in your life that you have always wanted to do but never thought you could.
Another great way to gain some self-confidence and do something for your local area is to volunteer with community services. Volunteering is great when it comes to self-confidence. It shows you that you can do things to help other people and that means you can turn right around and do things to help yourself. Plus, the recognition you can attain from volunteering will definitely make you feel better about yourself and the situations you find yourself in. But that is not the only thing you can do, there are plenty of options available for you.
If you feel like dead weight at work and you get bored easily, then you might want to try going back to school. Now, most people would not think that going to school would do anything to boost your confidence, but they would be wrong. Sure, it is going to be tough when you first start, especially if you are the oldest one in the classes you are taking. But you will find that with the knowledge you gain the more confident you will become. This could be the single most important thing you do to gain some of that self-confidence that you desperately need.
Self-confidence is something that everyone needs in order to be more successful in their lives. Whether you know it or not, confidence is something that you have to give to yourself and is not something that you can just have handed to you. You need to prove to yourself that you can earn the right to be confident in your life so that the things you do will give you more success. You have every right to be as confident as possible, but if you give up too soon, then you are going to find that your confidence levels will drop and you will lose out in the end.
Building Your Self Confidence

When you are trying to build your confidence you have to push yourself, nobody else is going to push you as hard as you will yourself and if you want it bad enough, if you want that confidence and to be more assertive then you have to set your goals high. You can’t say, well I will start a diet when I get to this point, or I will stop smoking when I get to that point…you need to say I am going to do it NOW, if I don’t do it now I will never do it! I am going to start putting myself out there in someone uncomfortable situations so that I can break out of my shell.
First of all, consider that part of your self-esteem problem may come from things that have happened to you in your life that you had no control over. Maybe your parents didn’t do their part to help you build self-confidence. It may be that another influential person in your life made you feel unimportant or insignificant at some point and you never moved past it. There are so many reasons that your self-confidence could be suffering. It may or may not be important for you to figure out why you feel that way, but it IS VITAL that you find a way to fight it.
That’s why one of the first things you need to do is set your expectations well above the proverbial bar. Why should there be anything that you can’t do? Decide what you want to do and be in life and then set about doing the things that will get you where you want to be. Refuse to let anything hold you back and that includes any preconceived ideas you may have had planted in your head over the years.
If everyone started out the same, it’s interesting to see how each individual’s life is affected by their environment. You may be someone that floats through life with nothing ever fazing him or her. That person may also have the confidence to try anything at least once. This is the person that you most likely aspire to be and there’s no reason that you can’t be exactly like that, only in YOUR own way and not theirs.
Sit down and list the things about yourself that you like. Focus on those things for a while as you start to understand that you’ve got some amazing traits that everyone would want to have. When you’ve digested those characteristics that make you awesome, make a list of the things you’re not so crazy about. Spend some time with those, too, as you try to figure out why you don’t like those traits. Once you’ve got the answers to that question, decide what you can do to change and improve those things.
Setting your expectations where you want them to be and then climbing the ladder to reach them is what makes you take the development of your self-confidence to the next level. Play some mind games with yourself until you understand that you’re just as deserving of high level self-confidence as anyone else. You’ll understand the feeling of believing you can have anything you want out of life.
